You may access the Buff Portal at the following URL: buffportal.colorado.edu. To log in, use your CU Identikey and the password you created for it.

Instructions on how to log into the buff portal

To access the CU Boulder Buff Portal, please click here.

Navigate to buffportal.colorado.edu.

Please enter your IdentiKey username in this box (example: chbu1234).

Please enter the password for your IdentiKey.

To access your dashboard, click the Log In button.

If you want to see your student ID number, major, and residence status, you may do so by opening the student profile in the upper right corner of Buff Portal.

Choose the Account Settings menu item to make modifications to your user profile.

Select IdentiKey, Password, and Email from the drop-down menus to make changes to your email settings, display name, and password.

Select “Profile” and “Privacy” from the menu to make changes to your e-mail address, telephone number, and any other personal information.

IdentiKey An IdentiKey is made up of two parts: a login name for CU Boulder and a password specific to IdentiKey. If you have a credential known as an IdentiKey, then online services and computer facilities on campus will be able to recognise you in a way that is completely unique to you and enable you to access the buff portal.

It is composed of your Columbia University Login Name and a password that is solely chosen by you.

When you are accepted to the Institution of Colorado at Boulder, records are kept in Campus Solutions, which is the student information system used by the university. These records show that an IdentiKey is generated for each student. When you have been processed and accepted, you will be able to activate your IdentiKey.

The Office of Information Technology (OIT) is responsible for automatically generating CU Login Names. These names are made up of the first two letters of your first name, the first two letters of your last name, and four arbitrary numbers.

Step-by-step instructions on how to activate your Identikey account

Following the instructions below will enable you to use IdentiKey Manager to activate your Identikey account.

To activate your IdentiKey, visit the IdentiKey Manager website at identikey.colorado.edu and click the button labelled “Activate My IdentiKey.”

After choosing the sort of account you want, click the Next button.

The following pieces of personal information must next be entered, depending on which user type you selected:

Please enter your Student ID Number, often known as your SID (the 9-digit number associated with your campus account). Call the Registrar’s office at (303) 492-6970 for assistance if you are unsure about your Student Identification Number (SID).

Please provide your birth date using the following format: MM/DD/YYYY.

Please enter the final four digits of your social security number or your personal identification number (PIN). Your personal identification number (PIN) is a four-digit code that may be used to activate your account. PINs are only issued to pupils for whom the school does not already have a social security number on file. Contact the IT Service Center at 303-735-4357 (5-HELP) or oithelp@colorado.edu if you are experiencing problems with your personal identification number (PIN).

Check the box to indicate that you agree with the usage policy, and then click the Next button.

After you have successfully verified yourself, you will be asked to respond to at least three further authentication questions. There is no requirement for you to provide responses to all of the questions. You are not allowed to input the same answer more than once. As part of the authentication procedure, you will be asked to provide responses to these questions in the event that you ever need to change the password for your IdentiKey.

Click the Next button once you have supplied answers to the required minimum of three authentication questions.

After that, you will be sent to a screen where you may choose a password for your account. You are required to behave in accordance with the password policy that is presented on the website. If your attempt is unsuccessful, you will be given another chance.

Your account will be activated and your CU Login Name will be shown as soon as you have chosen a password that is secure enough to fulfil the requirements. Make a note of this, and then press the Continue button.

In the event that you see a notice that states, “The account has already been activated,” this indicates that the process of activating the account has already been finished. If you are unable to remember the password that was set for you, go to identikey.colorado.edu and select the link that says “Forgot My Password.”

Instructions for changing your password

This guide will walk you through changing your password using the Change My Password function that is available in IdentiKey Manager.

To change your IdentiKey password, visit the IdentiKey Manager website at identikey.colorado.edu and pick the Change My Password option.

You can access the Federated Identity Service at CU Boulder by entering your CULoginName and the password for your IdentiKey account.

Change the password that you use to access your IdentiKey. It is required that each user have a password that is distinct from the previous five sets of passwords used for their account.

It must have a minimum of 10 characters in length.

Include three different types of characters (uppercase and lowercase letters, numbers, and symbols).

Click the “Change Password” button once you have entered your new password.

You will receive a notice notifying you that your password has been updated once you have successfully changed it to one that is compliant with the standards.

How to change the password on your Identikey card

Use this method to reset your IdentiKey password in Identikey Manager if you have forgotten it and are unable to access the buff portal as a result. This will allow you to regain access to the buff portal.

Select the Forgot My Password option on the IdentiKey Manager website (identikey.colorado.edu) to reset your password.

Enter your Columbia University login name, then click the next button.

Click the Next button once you have answered the three security questions that you put up earlier in the activation procedure.
